Civil War Brass Oval Snuff Box – Inventory Number: CAM 151 / SOLD Measures approximately 3 1/8″ x 1 5/8″ and is approximately 1/2″ deep.  Contained pipe tobacco.  Throughout the Civil War snuff production and use increased.  Snuff use was even recommended by doctors as a general cure-all, particularly effective in the treatment of coughs, colds, and headaches.  Many soldiers carried snuff in tins similar to this one in their haversacks.  Inventory Number: CAM 151 / SOLD
