 Civil War Era Colt’s Army Revolver Ammunition Packet 

 

Original paper-wrapped packet of combustible cartridges for the Colt Army revolver, .44 caliber. The label, though worn and age-toned, clearly reads “Colt’s Army Pistol,” with period directions for use and manufacturer information for D.C. Sage & Co., Middletown, Conn., U.S.A. These cartridges were the standard issue ammunition for the famed Model 1860 Army revolver carried extensively by Union cavalry and officers throughout the war. 

 

The packet remains intact and retains its original paper wrapper, showing honest period wear, staining, and edge fraying consistent with age. Remarkably, the contents remain present, complete with the original conical bullets.
