Civil War–Era Engraved Snuff Box

Oval snuff box constructed of white metal/pewter, featuring an engraved hinged lid with decorative borders and period ornamentation. The exterior displays a finely executed engraved design with a central cartouche, surrounded by radiating and patterned motifs typical of American snuff boxes of the Civil War era.

The box retains its original hinged lid, which opens and closes properly. An old handwritten collector label remains inside the lid from a prior collection, indicating long-term preservation and provenance.

Snuff boxes were common personal items carried by soldiers and civilians alike and were often traded, gifted, or retained as keepsakes throughout the Civil War years. Measures 2 3/4″ x 1 3/4″.
