Description
Civil War Officer’s Leather Boots
An outstanding pair of Civil War–era officer’s boots, crafted from supple black leather. These classic pull-on boots feature the distinctive high front and gently rounded toes typical of mid-19th century officer’s footwear.
The soles and heels exhibit the original period pegging and iron hobnails, clearly visible on the underside — excellent indicators of wartime manufacture and authentic use. Both boots retain fine surface character, showing honest wear, age patina, and well-preserved stitching throughout. Sole measures 12 inches.
These boots would have been privately purchased by a Union officer for field or dress use, as commissioned officers were responsible for acquiring their own uniform items. A rare surviving example of a quintessential item of Civil War officer’s attire.
