This authentic small size Civil War officer’s sash buckle features the classic open-wreath design, cast in brass with beautiful, aged patina. Worn by Union officers as part of their dress or ceremonial uniforms, these buckles secured the silk officer’s sash a symbol of rank and authority. This example includes the original keeper bar and displays detail consistent with battlefield or long-term field use. Excavated at Gettysburg.  

An excellent relic of 19th-century military attire, perfect for any Civil War collection.
