Confederate Jefferson Davis Presidential Electoral Ticket

Virginia – 1861

A scarce and historically significant Confederate presidential electoral ticket printed in Virginia in support of Jefferson Davis for President and Alexander H. Stephens for Vice President. This example lists both state-at-large and district electors, reflecting the early organization of Confederate national politics during the opening year of the Civil War.

The reverse bears a period ink signature reading “Henry H. Ward,” adding a desirable element of personalization and potential for further research into ownership or electoral affiliation. Such signed examples are seldom encountered.

Confederate political ephemera of this nature is notably rare, particularly items directly tied to the 1861 election cycle, as many were discarded or lost during the war and its aftermath. Tickets from Virginia—arguably the most important Confederate state—are especially desirable.

Housed in a riker display case with red velvet backing and accompanied by a descriptive card, presenting well for display.
