Excavated Buttons and Relics from Culpeper, Virginia
Collection of dug relics from Civil War camps near Culpeper, Virginia. The lot contains a nice collection of eagle buttons, including a scarce eagle “V” voltigeurs cuff, an eagle “R” rifleman’s button, Eagle “I” infantry buttons, general service eagle buttons, a zouave ball button, and numerous flat buttons and button backs. There is a half of an 1859 spur, knapsack hooks, a musket tool, lead poker chip, gum blanket rivets, the handle to a knife, and a brass tip to a side knife scabbard. Culpeper, Virginia was the scene of numerous battles and campaigns throughout the Civil War and was the location of the Army of the Potomac’s encampment during the winter of 1863-1864.
Comes housed in a 8 x 14 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
