Exceptional Civil War Presentation-Grade Drumsticks

Rosewood with Turned Bone Finials

A superb and highly attractive pair of Civil War–era presentation drumsticks, crafted from richly figured rosewood and finished with turned bone finials at both butt and striking ends. These are far above standard issue field examples and represent a quality typically associated with a regimental musician of prominence or a presentation piece.

The rosewood shafts display deep, warm tones with fine natural grain and a smooth, hand-finished surface. The taper is balanced and refined, exhibiting manufacture by a skilled shop rather than mass wartime production. Each stick terminates in finely turned bone tips and butt caps—an upscale embellishment rarely encountered on standard military drumsticks, which were without decorative elements.

The condition is exceptional. The wood retains a rich, untouched patina with only minor handling marks. The bone finials remain intact and well-seated, showing pleasing age toning but no significant damage.
