General Meade’s Headquarters – Gettysburg, PA 1863 Silver Souvenir Pin
Charming early Gettysburg battlefield souvenir pin depicting General George G. Meade’s Headquarters, the small Leister farmhouse where the Union commander directed operations during the Battle of Gettysburg.
Struck in fine coin silver, this oval pin features a beautifully detailed raised image of the Leister House beneath spreading trees, with the legend “GEN. MEADE’S HEADQUARTERS – GETTYSBURG, PA – 1863” encircling the design. The reverse retains its original T-hinge and clasp, showing mellow age toning.
These souvenir pieces were popular with early visitors to the battlefield during the postwar decades, often sold at local shops or produced for reunion attendees seeking a tangible link to the site of the Union Army’s great victory.
This is the only example of this pin we have encountered.
