George McClellan Style ID Disk – Inventory Number: PER 371 / SOLD Civil War identification disc, 1 1/8” in diameter with a profile portrait of General George B. McClellan at center surrounded by text reading, “Major General Geo. B. McClellan / War of 1861” on obverse. The reverse is blank. Disks such as these were privately purchased by some Civil War soldiers and engraved with identifying information on the reverse. This example is just as it would have been purchased from the sutler before it was engraved.  Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.   Inventory Number: PER 371 / SOLD
