Hillsboro North Carolina Military Academy Button – Inventory Number: CON 482 / SOLD This rare button artifact is a fine excavated example of a dug, two-piece brass button as worn on the uniforms of North Carolina Military Academy cadets prior and during the Civil War. Specimen was recovered from Winchester, VA area. Face exhibits a five-pointed star centered on a lined field flanked with the letters “N” and “C”. The words “Hillsboro Military Academy”. Face shows a good deal of its original gold gilt save for the raised areas and some background. The reverse shows a still legible depressed maker’s mark of “Schuyler H. & G. N. York,” along with an intact, upright shank still present. 19mm. Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with black velvet and description.     Inventory Number: CON 482 / SOLD
