“Jeff Davis” or Hardee Hat Eagle Insignia – Inventory Number: INS 397 / ON-HOLD Original stamped brass “Jeff Davis” or Hardee Hat eagle insignia used to pin up the side of the Army felt dress hat. Brass surface has an even mellow gold patina and both original loops affixed to the reverse as well as the wire to crimp the hat brim.  This is an excellent original example, many on the market are reproduction examples or turn of the century copies with incorrect affixing attachments.  This example is as good as they come!
