Massachusetts Regimental Button, New England Guard “NEG”,   R & W Robinson on ribbon, (13.55mm)   Button depicts raised “NEG”, on lined field.  The New England Guard was formed about 1812, enjoyed a long tradition from Boston Mass, was organized into the 24th Mass Infantry and served with distinction.   Backmark:   “(dot) ROBINSONS (dot) / (EXTRA)” dm.  Low convex, t wo part button, cuff size.
