Prairie Pine Weed Root was packaged by Allaire Woodward & Co. of Peoria Illinois. The earliest reference to this company is in an 1835 dated version of the American Journal of Pharmacy at the Smithsonian Institute. Camp sutlers would follow the soldiers and sell medicinal products for the many ailments they suffered. This Prairie Pine Weed Root was touted as being “Adapted to relieve flatulent cnlic.” Instructions for use printed on the side of the package are: “Infusion, Prairie Prairie Pine Weed Root, one ounce. Hot Water, one pint. Dose, wineglassful.
