Relic Cannon Rammer – Inventory Number: ART 416 / SOLD Wonderful Civil War battlefield Relic.  This 31” long section of a shattered cannon sponge / rammer was once part of an early museum collection. It retains the cylindrical wooden head and hand-cut nails which once affixed the woolen cover.   The shaft is firmly affixed and retains the original paint.  The fragmented section has a patina indicating that it was fractured long ago and likely during use or struck.  There is the addition of a 3/8” hole drilled for mounting to a display.  Interesting artillery relic of the battlefield!   Inventory Number: ART 416 / SOLD
