Description
“Remember Baltimore – Death to Traitors!” Patriotic Ribbon
Original Civil War–era patriotic ribbon, boldly printed in blue on white silk with an American eagle clutching arrows and shield above the inscription:
“Remember Baltimore / Death to Traitors! / The Stars & Stripes Forever.”
This powerful slogan references the Baltimore Riot of April 19, 1861, one of the first violent clashes of the Civil War, when Union troops moving through Baltimore were attacked by secessionist mobs. The phrase “Remember Baltimore” became a rallying cry for Northern soldiers and Union supporters during the early war period.
The ribbon retains its delicate silk fringe at top and bottom, with light fraying and toning consistent with age. A fine piece of early-war patriotic material, reflecting the raw sentiment of Union loyalists in 1861.
A striking and historically charged Union patriotic ribbon—a true emblem of Northern resolve in the opening months of the Civil War.
Comes housed in 8 x 14 riker display case with blue velvet and descriptive card.
