Scarce Connecticut Conversion Model 1808

 

By Smith Cogswell with circular cartouche identifying the conversion. The Cogswell New York state contract was patterned after the Ely Whitney muskets, like the Pomeroy state contract muskets.  If one is looking for a Connecticut State musket, these are very scarce seldom seen.  This example shows honest filed use and some peppering at the breach from use as both a flintlock and percussion musket attesting to its use as an armament!
