Complete Red, White & Blue Display 

 

An outstanding display of all three division badges of General Philip H. Sheridan’s famed Cavalry Corps, representing the 1st Division (Red), 2nd Division (White), and 3rd Division (Blue). Adopted as part of the Union Army’s corps badge system, these striking crossed-saber insignia identified the wearer’s division within the powerful mounted arm that played a decisive role in the Overland Campaign, Shenandoah Valley Campaign, and Appomattox Campaign. 

 

This matched grouping is particularly appealing as it visually illustrates the complete division structure of Sheridan’s Cavalry Corps through the traditional red, white, and blue color scheme. The red badge retains replaced attachment hooks, while the white and blue examples no longer have their original fastening devices, though the lead-solder attachment bases remain intact on the reverse, confirming their original method of wear. Displays featuring all three division variants together are seldom encountered and provide an attractive and educational presentation of one of the Union Army’s most celebrated corps organizations.
