U.S. Army Drawers Identified to John H. Sheridan 118th Pennsylvania “Corn Exchange Regiment” – Inventory Number: UNI 113 / SOLD One of the rarest Civil War garments is the U.S. Army issue under drawers. This pair was worn by Corporal John H. Sheridan of the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry “Corn Exchange Regiment,” which famously suffered extreme casualties at the Battle of Shepherdstown due to poor training and faulty muskets. It was at Shepherdstown on September 20, 1862 that John H. Sheridan was wounded. His canton flannel drawers have a tie back with two white porcelain buttons at the front. They have a sewn cotton tag with “J. H. Sheridan 4695 g.” in ink, as well as the laundry stamp of the “National Home of D.V.S (disabled volunteer soldiers.) They measure 38” from waist to cuff and are in very good condition. An extremely scarce Civil War garment.  John H. Sheridan Residence Philadelphia PA; Enlisted on 8/4/1862 as a Corporal.  On 8/4/1862 he mustered into “B” Co. PA 118th Infantry. Wounded 9/20/1862 Shepherdstown, WV.   Inventory Number: UNI 113 / SOLD
