Unique Civil War Tintype Recovered from the Battlefield of Cumberland Gap 

The rarity of a tin type of fruit in itself is 10 out of 10 but combined with being recovered from the battlefield as a relic. This is about as unique as one could ask for. The original Album page features a pencil inscription which states “ found a Cumberland gap supposed by a N.Y. regiment” A wonderful CDV size 10 type featuring a table dressed in fancy linen, displaying a wooden vessel of assorted fruit, which has been painstakingly tinted. The battle of Cumberland, Gap Fought between September 7th and 9th of 1863, the Fall of the Cumberland Gap was a victory for Union forces under the command of Ambrose Burnside during his campaign for Knoxville. The bloodless engagement cost the Confederates 2,300 men captured and control of the Cumberland Gap. Comes housed in 8 x 12 riker display case with black velvet and descriptive card.
