Civil War era mourning envelope issued following the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln in April 1865.

Front printed with the bold caption “We Mourn a Father Slain” within a black funeral-style border of draped bunting. Reverse bears printer’s imprint: Magee, 316 Chestnut St., Philadelphia.

Envelope remains unused with intact flap. A powerful and highly collectible Lincoln mourning piece.
