Description

Wilmont Patent Tompion – Inventory Number: FIR 101 / Sold This .58 tompion was for use on the Springfield Model 1855 & 1861 rifle muskets. It is made of brass and fitted with an expanding rubber plug covered in wool. Turning the head expands the plug for a tight fit. Top edge is marked “Patented Nov. 24, 1863.”   Original wool cover is intact. Inventory Number: FIR 101 / Sold
