12 Pound Bormann Case Shot Fused Artillery Shell - Inventory Number: ART 278 / SOLD

Deactivation drill hole at bottom.  Nice Bormann fuse present.

The artillerist used a metal punch to pierce the thin metal at the desired time marking.  This exposed a section in the horseshoe shaped horizontal powder train.  When the canon discharged, the flame from the explosion ignited this powder train.
