This Federal spherical solid shot speciment is an original Civil War artillery projectile that was recovered in overall relic conditiom, the 4.52" diameter, tweleve-pound artillery was employed in smoothbore canon and was used for knocking down buildings, earthworks and to scatter formations of infantry.  A fine representative artillery artifact from the Union Army's Civil War days.
