Solid iron cannonball for use in the smoothbore 12lb.  Napoleon gun.  Solid shot was employed against fortifications and was effective against massed infantry formations and troops in heavily forested areas. This example is uncleaned and is in as-found condition. A classic Civil War cannonball.
