1/6th plate ambrotype on purple glass of a seated gentleman with a beard and dark colored coat with white shirt and cravat. The image is framed in gilt copper and housed in a brown thermoplastic case with a break at the bottom hinge. Found behind the ruby plate was a handwritten note in ink that reads “Emily from Will, a keepsake from life, June 15th, 1860. A nice civilian image with a personal note from the eve of the Civil War.
