1/6th plate tintype of seated Union infantryman in a frock coat, leather accoutrements, canteen, and Hardee hat with infantry hunting horn insignia and the brass numbers “100” at the center. The soldier holds an Austrian Lorenz rifle with fixed bayonet. His belt buckle, eagle breast plate, buttons, and infantry insignia are tinted with gold paint, and his pants are tinted sky blue. There are some hairline cracks to the emulsion on the tintype but overall, the image is in good condition with good clarity and contrast. The image is framed in a copper patriotic themed matt with cannons, warships, flags, bayonets, and liberty caps, and housed in a hinged thermoplastic case decorated with military motifs. A nice image of a Western theater Federal soldier.
