1860 Parker Patented Snuff Box – Inventory Number: MIS 283 / SOLD

Outstanding snuff box depicting an 1860 ship scene with stamping: “Parker’s Patented - January 24th, 1860”. Throughout the Civil War snuff production boomed.  It was even recommended by doctors as a general cure-all, particularly effective in the treatment of coughs, colds, and headaches.  Many soldiers carried snuff in their haversacks.
