26-page collection of poems and hymns by Phoebe Anne Hanaford and published in Boston by B. B. Russell and Company in 1865. Measures 6 ½” by 9”. In fragile condition with the front cover separated from the binding. Inside the front cover is a detailed steel engraving of Abraham Lincoln. Phoebe Ann (Coffin) Hanaford (1829-1921) was an American Universalist minister, the first woman ordained (1868) in New England. She was the author of fiction, history, and a chronicler of American women. A scarce piece of Lincoln ephemera printed shortly after his assassination.
Comes housed in an 8 x 14 inch display case with black velvet backing and descriptive card.
