Vignette carte de visite of Abraham Lincoln from the February 9, 1864 photograph by Anthony Berger. In 1895 Robert Todd Lincoln wrote of this view, "I have always thought the Brady photograph of my father, of which I attach a copy, to be the most satisfactory likeness of him.” This CDV has a black border to symbolize the national state of mourning, with the caption “ABRAHAM LINCOLN, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. BORN FEB. 12th, 1809. ASSASSINATED APRIL 14th, 1865.” Printed by F. L. Leroy, Warren, Ohio. A great Lincoln image published shortly after his assassination.
Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with black velvet backing and descriptive card.
