U.S. 3" Type 2 Absterdam Common Shell, the size is 2.95" in diameter, 7 1/2" long, 8.8 pounds. The shell threads can be seen, fuze is not present. Retains the lead base cup or sabot, missing the anti-friction band. Clearly marked on the base: "Patented August 12th 1862".
