Battle of Gettysburg, 3rd Day - Inventory Number: ALB 034
This photo artifact of Americana is a stereoscopic card that depicts the 3rd day of fighting at the Gettysburg Battlefield. It was sold for the benefit of the Soldiers’ Memorial Church, in which every soldier who fell in this or other battle-fields shall have an inscribed stone. Stereoview, in very fine condition, is constructed of hard pasteboard and measures 7" long x 4" high. Card body exhibits just a slight concave shape due to age and storage. Background card surface is light-colored upon which two almost identical copies of the monument are glued.
The card device is made to be looked at via a handheld stereocard viewer in order to gain the three-dimensional effect that the card produced. Photo image is clean and clear with nice detail and shows no or very little foxing or surface grime.
