Bayonet with Kyhl Spring Catch for Prussian 1839 Style Muskets - Inventory Number: BAY 210 / SOLD

Bayonet with distinctive wing-shaped spring catch as used on muskets from Denmark, Norway, and some North German states.  According to European Bayonets of the American Civil War by Noe and Serbaroli, these bayonets have been excavated from two Civil War sites and were likely imported in some quantity during the war. The bayonet has a smooth brown patina with a 19" blade and various markings on the socket. An interesting addition to a Civil War bayonet collection.
