Outstanding Confederate Bowie Knife - Inventory Number: CON 564
A superb example of a large "D' Guard Bowie knife. Measuring approximately 16 1/4"overall. This example exhibits a solid lathe turned wood grip. The iron band and cross-guard are undisturbed. Blade measures 11 3/4"with a clipped point and exhibits all the classic finishing expected of a true Southern knife. This example was formed from a filer, known for being of quality steel. There are some markings at the vase of the blade near the crossguard as well as some of the cross-hatching from the file are visible. Original pigskin sheath with a faint inscription on the leather body. If you've ever wanted a pedigreed example of a Confederate soldiers' "D" guard, this is a stunning example of such a knife. Ex.
