Brooklyn Arms Company "Slocum" Revolver - Inventory Number: HAN 345
Manufactured by the Brooklyn Arms Company between 1863 and 1864, the "Slocum" revolver was an attempt to circumvent the Rollin White bored through cylinder patent controlled by Smith & Wesson and first introduced on their No.1 revolver in 1857. The Slocum is a unique design with individual cartridge chambers in the form of sliding tubes within cut outs on the cylinder. The chambers slide forward one at a time over a fixed rod on the right side to expose, load and eject. This example has a 3" (76mm) barrel chambered marked with “B.A. Co. Patented April 14, 1863”. The 5 shot cylinder is chambered in the .32 Rimfire cartridge.
