This seldom seen style was manufactured by "Holenshade, Morris & Co. and is so marked in bold ink on strap. The canteen is covered in shoddy jean cloth. This military provider agreed on April 16th 1864, to furnish 120,000 canteens at 49 cents a piece. Wonderful example!
