Civil War U.S. issue carbine cartridge box with an interior drilled wooden block for 20 cartridges. The leather is somewhat dry, as would be expected for an early battlefield pickup, with some crazing to the outer finish. The outer flap has a very old typewritten tag marked “Gettysburg.” With ink notated inventory number. The inner flap retains both leather ears and is marked “H.A. Dingee, N.Y., and the bottom of the box is complete with finial and both roller buckles. A nice complete example from the Gettysburg battlefield.
