Civil War U.S. issue carbine cartridge box with an interior drilled wooden block for 20 cartridges. The box has supple leather with some crazing on the outer flap. The inside of the outer flap has an ink inscription “NO 10” and the name “E.S. Whitmur” carved into the leather, which is not an exact match to any soldier in the database. The inner flap retains both leather ears and the bottom of the box is complete with finial and both roller buckles. A nice complete example in good condition.
