Civil War eagle masthead discharge of Christopher Glasser of the 140th New York, a regiment best known for their charge at Little Round Top under the command of Patrick O’Rourke, who was killed in action there. Glasser enlisted in August 1862 as a private and was mustered out in June 1865. He was listed as captured during the Battle of Bethesda Church, VA. The document measures 8 ½” by 11” and is signed by Lt. Colonel William S. Grantsyne. There are two additional inscriptions in red ink regarding the collection of bounties after the war. A nice Civil War document from a famous regiment.
Christopher Glasser - Residence was not listed; 21 years old. Enlisted on 8/28/1862 at Rochester, NY as a Private. On 9/13/1862 he mustered into "F" Co. NY 140th Infantry. He was Mustered Out on 6/3/1865 at Alexandria, VA. He was listed as: POW 6/2/1864 Bethesda Church, VA (Paroled)
