Civil War Eagle Hat Device - Inventory Number: INS 348 / SOLD
1821 Pattern Eagle Device with gold plating, this example is die-struck and exhibits the arrows tucked into the body, which helps determine its wartime manufacture rather than a pre-war example. The eagle measures an impressive 3” across and retains affixing wires for the Chapeau De Bras on the reverse. From the collection of Duncan Campbell. Possibly the prettiest of all the American hat devices and a wonderful example!
Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with blue velvet and descriptive card.
