Civil War Federal Percussion Cap Pouch – Inventory Number: LEA 458 / SOLD
Civil War percussion cap pouch is constructed of black bridle leather and features a single brass finial on the flap. The tongue bears an inspectors mark.
The inner flap includes a clear “H G Haedrich Philada” stamp, indicating manufacture by a government-contracted leather goods supplier. The pouch retains its vent pick and several caps. Belt loops on the back which allowed it to be worn on a soldier’s waist belt.
These cap pouches were used by Union soldiers to carry percussion caps for their rifled muskets and were an essential piece of field gear throughout the conflict.
