Civil War Field Glasses and Case / SOLD

Wonderful pair of French manufactured Civil War era field glasses. They are fully functional with clear optics. The brown leather covering is strong and tight, and the sunshades slide smoothly. This pair has a knob connected to the eyepieces that can adjust the magnification between theater and marine/campaign, and each mode is labeled on the nose bridge and changed when the knob is adjusted. The purple velvet lined carrying case is in good condition with a Paris maker’s mark inside the lid and has had the closure and carrying straps restored. These style of field glasses were widely used by officers, artillerymen, and signal corps members during the Civil War.
