Civil War Hardtack - Inventory Number: CAM 557 / SOLD
The original Civil War issued ration of the soldier. This example measures 3 ½ square. This hardtack or cracker was brought back to Illinois at the end of the war by C.B. Noble, 7th Illinois Cavalry. This was issued as a mainstay of the Civil War soldiers’ diet. This example has a pencil notation at the top pf: “1865” and a hole in the center as it was likely mounted to a display board at one time. An absolutely original identified piece of Civil War hardtack.
Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with red velvet and descriptive card.
