Civil War McClellan Saddle Bags - Inventory Number: LEA 371 / SOLD
The yoke is intact with no tears and still has locking straps that would pass through the brackets on the rear of the saddle. The center hole for the saddlebag stud is likewise in good condition. Bags are frequently broken at this point from wear or careless handling by someone who folded them too tightly. The covers of the bags are a little stiff and show some crazing from flexing and some wrinkling, but aside from some minor rubs have no finish loss. The latch tabs are broken where they meet the buckles, as are the tie-down loops. The straps and buckles are secured with stitching only, which some would take as a sign of early manufacture. The inner pockets and seams are excellent. Interior pocket laces are present, and the lacing holes are not stressed.
This is a very displayable set of McClellan saddlebags that would dress up any saddle or cavalry collection.
