The classic Civil War mess set carried by soldiers in their haversacks, consisting of a tin plate, cup, knife, fork, and spoon. The plate is manufactured of rolled tin measuring 9” in diameter. The tin cup is typical of the period, measuring 4” wide and 3” in height and made of rolled tin with exposed solder and a soldered and riveted handle. The wood handled knife and fork are typical, low-cost examples that were popular with soldiers in the field. The spoon is silver plated brass with hallmarks stamped on the underside of the handle. A wonderful ensemble for a Civil War camp display.
