Civil War Patriotic Snuff Box / Sold

Civil War Patriotic Snuff Box - Beautiful silver hinged snuff box engraved with eagles on front and interesting design on the back,. The interior is gold plated.  Measures approximately 3 1/4" x 1 7/8".  Throughout the Civil War snuff production boomed.  It was even recommended by doctors as a general cure-all, particularly effective in the treatment of coughs, colds, and headaches.  Many soldiers carried snuff in their haversacks.
