Civil War Pinfire Revolver - Inventory Number: HAN 326 / SOLD

Belgian Pinfire Revolver, made circa 1860. Casimir Lefaucheux patented the pinfire cartridge in 1835 and his son Eugene designed the pistol.

The pinfire cartridge was one of the first successful self-contained cartridges in history, and the pistol saw prolific use in Europe during the 19th century, even being adopted by some militaries in the US/-CS service.

This 6-shot, double action revolver features a lanyard ring, perhaps suggesting police use. Belgian proof marks are on the cylinder. Overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces are in nice condition, with a smooth grey dusky patina.

The markings are clear and legible. The grips are smooth and in very good condition. The bore is sharp and clean. The action is excellent. A nice large frame example.
