Civil War Strip Matches Lucifer's / SOLD

Civil War Strip Matches - Found in an envelop marked, "Oldest Portland Star Matches."  Matches were an extremely popular item, in fact, generals considered important for the welfare of the troops.  Matches were sometimes sold in "strips," and several of these strips were wrapped in waxed paper and sold as a package.  Matches were made of 1 piece of wood, cut/split into individual matches that could be broken off as needed by the soldier.  Each end is tapered and coated with red material for striking.  Commonly referred to as Lucifer's.  We have 5 full sheets available for purchase, each sheet is $40, if you are interested in purchasing more then one sheet please contact us directly for a reduced shipping rate.
