Civil War Surgical Amputation Case - Inventory Number: MED 128 / Sold

Original Three Tier Kit by George Tiemann – 63 Chatham Street, New York.  The business operated at this address only from 1858-1864 and this is the desirable address and maker on a Civil War Kit.  The mahogany box measures 17” x 7” x 4” when closed.  It is lined with a bold emerald green velvet with a combination of fitted and slotted partitions for surgical and amputation tools.

The case contains numerous items including the Capital amputation saw, bullet forceps, a pair of tweezers, metacarpal saw, smaller forceps, three large amputation knives, a series of scalpels, tenaculum, trephine bit, and a trocar with sleeve.

An outstanding example for any Civil War or early Medical collection!
