Civil War U.S. “Bullseye” Canteen Shadowbox - Inventory Number: CAN 144 / SOLD

Civil War Union corrugated canteen, known to collectors as the "Bullseye” pattern with reinforcement rings stamped on each side. It still has all three of the original strap loops present, as well as a light brown jean cloth cover. The original cotton web sling with parallel blue stripes is still present. The original stopper is still retained in the pewter spout, which bears the maker’s mark of Hadden, Porter, and Booth from Philadelphia. This style of canteen is typical of those issued during the war by the Philadelphia Depot. The canteen is mounted in a large wooden shadowbox with an original, stamped brass infantry horn hat insignia and a photocopied image of a Union soldier. The shadowbox measures 21” by 19” by 3 1/8”. An excellent display piece for your Civil War room.
